Shell Construction & Shape
- ScLc (Super Complex Laminate Construction) fiberglass shell, approximately 40% stronger than standard fiberglass in extension and bending resistance; commonly referred to as F.A.S.T. (Fiberglass Aerospace Shell Technology) due to its aerospace development heritage
- PB-CLC peripheral belt reinforcement extends across the forehead area of the shell, increasing structural integrity while keeping weight low
- Defiant-specific shell shape, more aggressive in exterior design while retaining Arai’s smooth, organic form focused on impact energy management
- Outward-flaring Hyper-Ridge reinforcing band circles the base of the shell, adding strength, lowering the helmet’s center of gravity, and creating a larger opening for easier on/off
- Extreme Peripheral View eyeport, providing a 10mm wider field of vision (5mm per side) for enhanced situational awareness
- Designed around Arai’s philosophy that a helmet is first and foremost an energy management system, with smooth shell surfaces intended to reduce snagging during impact
Fit & Interior Shape
- Intermediate Oval interior shape, offering a balanced fit that is slightly shorter front-to-back and a bit wider side-to-side than a Long Oval — the most common head shape
- Multi-density, one-piece EPS liner, designed to manage impact energy while keeping shell size and weight to a minimum
- FCS® (Facial Contour System) cheek pads, using a spring-supported design that applies secure pressure while worn and relaxes to create extra room when removing the helmet
- 5mm peel-away cheek pad micro-fit layer for fine-tuning fit without purchasing additional components
- 5mm peel-away temple/side pad layers, allowing additional interior width adjustment
- Water-repellent cheek pad and neck roll materials, preventing moisture absorption and improving comfort in wet conditions
- Fully removable and replaceable interior and neck roll for thorough cleaning or replacement if damaged
Shield System & Vision
- SAI Max Vision Brow Vent shield system, combining a wider eyeport with Brow Vent intake compatibility
- LRS (Lever Release System) allows tool-less shield changes without removing side pods
- De-Mist Lock tab pushes the shield forward to help clear fog buildup when needed
- Compatible with Pinlock Max Vision anti-fog inserts (shield system designed to accept Pinlock)
Ventilation
- Brow Vent Channeling Ventilation, directing cooling air across the forehead and temples without compromising shell or liner integrity
- Advanced intake and exhaust ventilation, providing more directed airflow and improved removal of hot interior air
- Rear neck exhaust duct, a perforated duct at the base of the liner that aids in evacuating stale air from inside the helmet
- Free Flow System (FFS) reduces wind turbulence and noise while increasing exhaust efficiency
- IR chin vent with dual-position functionality:
Position 1 directs air across the inside of the shield for defogging
Position 2 supplies airflow to the mouth area
Stability & Aerodynamics
- IR front spoiler edge trim, creating stabilizing downforce that helps reduce buffeting, lift, and wind noise between the rider’s shoulders and the bottom of the helmet
- IR neck roll design, reshaped to improve airflow at lower speeds while also reducing pressure on the ears when putting on or removing the helmet
