The Arai XD4 in Black Frost is a plain matte black across the crossover shell, finished in Arai's frost texture so the surface reads flat rather than reflective. The XD-4's three-way configuration is visible in profile: it wears the full faceshield with the peak for adventure and dual-sport use, goggles with the peak for off-road, or the faceshield alone for the street. The top diffuser exhaust ports, high-flow peak and side cowl vents all read as form against the matte finish. The Arai logo sits on the brow, with the DOT and Snell certification marks at the rear. Brand new and never worn (new old stock), this helmet comes exactly as received, fully preserved in its original packaging with all included accessories.
The XD-4 is Arai's Intermediate Oval crossover helmet, wearable in three configurations: full faceshield with peak for adventure and dual-sport, goggles with peak for off-road, or faceshield without peak for the street. Top diffuser exhaust ports nearly double the airflow of the XD-3, working with the high-flow peak and side cowl vents, and the faceshield adds brow vents. The interior combines a comfort headliner with 5mm peel-away temple pads and Arai's FCS cheek pads, also with 5mm peel-away layers and emergency-release tabs, all fully removable and washable. DOT and Snell M2010 or M2015 certified depending on production date — verify against the interior label — made in Japan. Note: that certification has been superseded by newer Snell standards; this helmet carries the standard current at the time it was built.

EMERGENCY CHEEK PAD RELEASE SYSTEM
Developed to allow easier access to an injured rider, the XD4’s cheek pads slide out easily – via the integrated pull-tabs built into the underside of the cheek pad – making helmet removal much easier for trained medical personnel.
Disclosure
The visor/peak supplied with the XD4 helmet is not suitable for high-speed use. At such speeds air catching a side or main surface of the peak may cause difficulty in returning the head to a forward and/or level position. To understand and prepare for this possible effect, you should first try to experience it at low speeds, gradually increasing speed so that you will know what to expect and determine when the peak should be removed for higher-speed riding.
