The Arai XD3 in Luster Red is a solid red finish across the crossover shell, with the dirt-style peak and chin bar in place and the full street faceshield fitted beneath. The XD-3's defining feature is visible in profile: the shield slides up under the peak on Arai's Twin-Cam pivot, and both peak and shield come off without tools. The Arai logo sits on the brow, with the DOT and Snell certification marks at the rear. Brand new and never worn (vintage new old stock), this helmet comes exactly as received, fully preserved in its original packaging with all included accessories.
The XD-3 is the second generation of Arai's XD Crossover Design helmet, built to switch between adventure touring, dual-sport, Supermoto and street use. It combines a dirt-style peak and chin bar with a full street faceshield that slides up beneath the peak on Arai's Twin-Cam shield pivot, and both peak and shield remove in seconds. The redesigned peak improves stability and airflow and is rated for street speeds. The shell is Arai's cLc (Complex Laminate Construction), with a removable, washable liner and removable cheek pads. Intermediate Oval fit, DOT and Snell M2005/M2010-era certified — verify against the interior label — made in Japan. Note: that certification has been superseded by newer Snell standards; this helmet carries the standard current at the time it was built.

Shell & safety
- cLc (Complex Laminate Construction) shell — specially designed felt sandwiched between two layers of Super Fiber Laminate for reinforcement without added weight
- Organic Shell Shape with rounded chinbar (borrowed from the VX Series) — less protrusion than a pointed chinbar, less likely to catch and dig in during a slide
- Hyper-Ridge reinforcement band around the shell base for strength and a lower center of gravity
- Emergency Cheek-Pad Release System (first introduced on the VX-Pro3)

Peak & shield system
- Twin-Cam Shield Pivot System — lets the full faceshield operate entirely beneath the mounted peak without protruding, so the peak sits lower for better aerodynamics
- Redesigned peak (vs. original XD) for improved stability and airflow, tested to perform up to street-legal speeds
- Three-way configurable: peak + shield, shield only, or peak + goggles — both peak and shield remove and reinstall without hassle
Ventilation
- 5 intake and 7 exhaust vents total
- Diffuser ventilation from the RX-7 road racing series
- Front vents from the Profile model for increased intake
- Mouth-vent system with controls both inside and outside the chinvent — directs fresh air to the mouth or upward along the shield interior to fight fogging
- Lower left/right side exhausts plus neckroll exhaust vents to pull hot air out
Interior
- Fully removable, replaceable, washable Dry-Cool liner and cheek pads
- Optional cheek pad sizes available for fit customization
Disclosure
The visor/peak supplied with the XD3 helmet is not suitable for high-speed use. At such speeds air catching a side or main surface of the peak may cause difficulty in returning the head to a forward and/or level position. To understand and prepare for this possible effect, you should first try to experience it at low speeds, gradually increasing speed so that you will know what to expect and determine when the peak should be removed for higher-speed riding.
